...this version of "Stand by Me" is the coolest one I've heard in a long, long time.
... upon re-listening to Your Vegas's debut record, A Town and Two Cities, I hear a rock band masquerading as introspective Britpoppers. I'll definitely be at their acoustic show--does anyone call it "unplugged" anymore?--at Southpaw in Brooklyn on April 28.
...Rachel DeWoskin is a writer you should know. She published in 2006 her first book, Foreign Babes in Beijing, an enviously well-received memoir about her life in mid-90s China. Now, her first novel, A Repeat After Me, is out. Get it. Read it. Pass it on.
...the portraits in my friend and illustrator Katie Yamasaki's new show, "Pintando Postales," reveal all of her imaginitive and socially lovely imagery. And there's a cool short film about the show this.
...if you're ever feeling "old," read Ian Frazier's article "Who's Your Daddy?" in the April issue of Outside.
